The second edition of the Asian Youth Games (AYG) was held in Nanjing, China from 16 to 24 Aug 2013. The AYG served a similar purpose ahead of the IOC’s second Summer Youth Olympic Games, which would also be held in Nanjing in 2014. A total of 2,400 athletes participated in the AYG, with a total of 112 events in 16 sports.
Cityneon was awarded the contract as the Main Contractor for all temporary overlays required. This contract marked a few firsts for Cityneon – the first time Cityneon has been awarded a multi-sports international event in China; the first in which the contract and process flow was achieved via China construction laws and regulations.
The project took 2 months for the entire construction of the temporary overlays and another 3 weeks for the tear down of the overlays. Approximately 12,000 sq m of tents and marquees were deployed, while about 6,500 sq m of modular houses were constructed for the extensive project.
We look forward to achieving more firsts for Cityneon in the year ahead.
